Mission

Plants are the foundation for all life on Earth. Our mission is to generate knowledge about the genetic and molecular basis of plant growth and adaptation, to enable improvement of the productivity and survivability of plants in the changing environment. We investigate how plants respond to changes of environmental factors (such as light, temperature, and the availability of water and nutrient), and how some organisms survive and thrive in extreme environment such as the hot spring and desert. We focus on the underlying fundamental mechanisms such as cell signaling, gene regulation, metabolic regulation, and morphogenesis of cells and organs. Our aim is to help ensure global sustainability through plant science.
