Postdoctoral Fellow Plant BiologyCarnegie Institution for Science dramirez@carnegiescience.edu Office: iDProfileBioI was born in Torreon, Coahuila, Mexico and grew up in El Paso, TX. I received my B.S. in Cellular & Molecular Biochemistry from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) and worked with Dr. German Rosas-Acosta on posttranslational modifications of Influenza proteins. Then, I did two summer research internships (2014, 2015) focused on the structural biology of nucleoporins with Dr. Günter Blobel at The Rockefeller University. I then did my PhD in Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Harvard with Dr. Christina Woo, where I focused on protein engineering to control O-GlcNAc signaling. I am broadly interested in method and tool development using principles from protein engineering, synthetic biology, chemical biology, proteomics, and glycobiology to address fundamental questions in plant biology dealing with glycans like O-GlcNAc and O-fucose.
