Beginning in 2006 with the TAIR6 release, our group has produced a yearly genome release updating the Arabidopsis thaliana annotation set to incorporate new genome sequencing, transcriptomics and proteomics data.  Each release is propagated to NCBI where it forms the basis for the Entrez Gene and Refseq data for this extensively studied model plant.  The TAIR10 genome annotation set, released in November 2010, contains 27,416 protein-coding genes, 924 pseudogenes, 3,903 transposable element-related genes and 1359 noncoding RNAs (33,602 genes in all). A total of 126 new loci and 2099 new gene models were added for this release.
