A bioinformatics/computational biology postdoctoral research position available to build and analyze metabolic, regulatory, and co-function networks for Setaria
A bioinformatics postdoctoral position is available starting September 1, 2012 in the laboratory of Dr. Seung Yon (Sue) Rhee at the Carnegie Institution, Department of Plant Biology (Stanford, CA) (http://carnegiedpb.stanford.edu/labs/rhee-lab/), to build and analyze gene regulatory and metabolic networks important for adaptation to low water availability and high-density plantings in Setaria, a model C4 grass, and to gain a greater understanding of the physiology underlying these adaptations. This is a collaborative project among several pioneering labs in plant physiology, genetics, engineering and systems biology.
Qualified candidates must have: 1) a Ph.D. or equivalent in Computer Science, Biology, Bioinformatics, Mathematics, Engineering or related field; 2) expertise or fluency in large-scale data analysis, statistics, genomics or network analysis; and 3) proficient in programming. The successful candidate should have a demonstrated ability for independent and critical thinking, ability and initiative to learn new things, excellent communication and teamwork skills and passion for biological research.
